| Abstract |
|
The validity of obtaining blood directly from arteriovenous fistulae for blood gas and pH mea- surements in 15 patients undergoing hemodialysis was examined. In such patients, blood samples were taken simultaneously from both the arterial and venous lines of the a-v fistula and from a femoral artery. The results are as follows: 1) The mean value of PCO, of venous line of a-v fistula revealed significant difference compared with femoral artery. (p(0. 01) 2) The mean value of pH, PCO, and PO, of arterial line of a-v fistula didnt show significant difference compared with femoral artery. (p)0. 05) So, we conclude that it is more convenient and safer to obtain a specimen for blood gas analysis directly from the arterial line within arterioven- ous fistula in patients undergoing hemodialysis. |
