Recent advances in hemodialysis and renal transplantation have resulted in improved survival rates in patients with chronic renal failure and have led to increasing numbers of patients with skeletal abnormalities caused by renal osteodystro- phy. We are reporting a case of subtotal parathyroi-dectomy as a surgical treatment of severe second- ary hyperparathyroidism in a 64 years old male patient with chronic renal failure, who presents with persistent hypercalcemia, subperiosteal bone resorption by xeroradiography, and extensive pul- monary calcification by "Tc-MDP scintigraphy. |
