CAPD 환자에서의 복막염
주현영 , 한대석
Abstract
Since its first introduction by Popovich and Mencrief in 1976, Continuous Ambulatory Perito- neal Dialysis(CAPD) has established itself as an effective method maintaining the patients with end stage renal disease. It is being used in incre asing population of these patients in Korea as ell as in the rest of tbe world. Recurrent peritonitis remains the most frequent cause of the CAPD failure despite of the fact that it is potentially preventable since patients' non-compliance with the CAPD techique and exit-site infection are the improtant factors in the recurrent peritonitis. In this review paper, clinical and diagnostic features of the peritonitis caused by various org- anisms in these patients are discussed based on the past experiences. Established methods of treatment and key ele- ments for the prevention of peritonitis in CAPD patients are described in detail. Patient who remain free of peritonitis for one year are unlikely to develop recurrent peritonitis. Treatment of peritonitis should be initiated as soon as it develops since any delay in treatment may lead to the septic shock and death. It is hoped that improved technology and incr- easing patients motivation will reduce the incid- ence of peritonitis.
