Abstract |
As an animal model for research of drug-induced nephrophy and renal medullary function, bromoe- thylamine(BEA) induced renal papillary necrosis have been used. However, the mechanism of pa- pillary necrosis induced by BEA administration is still unknown. To clarify further the effet of BEA on the renal function, several techniques were applied in this study. BEA treatment increased urinary flow, urinary excretion of sodium and chloride, and decreased urinary osmolarity in the Pitressin-treated rats. Corticomedullary sodium gradient and sodium amount of renal papillary region decreased in proportion to the amount of BEA administration. Time-lapsed change of renal corticomedullary sodium gradient was decreased in hours by BEA (200 mg/kg). Corticomedullary gradient of 'I-arginine vaso- pressin disappeared already in phours of BEA administration. From the present data, it is concluded that functional changes of renal pappila by the treatment of BEA may be followed by micro- scopical changes of this region. |
