Abstract
To study CsA-induced hepatotoxicity after renal transplantation, we evaluated retrospectively 100 cyclosporine A treated renal allograft recipients who underwent renal transplantation from May, 1984 to May, 1987 at Kangnam St.Marys Hospital. The results were as follows: 1) Liver functional abnormalities were seen in 21 (21 %) of 100 renal recipients and mostly occurred within 8 weeks postoperatively (85.7%). 2) Liver functional abnormalities were mild elevation of serum total bilirubin and/or mild to moderate eleva- tion of SGOT or SGPT. 3) Seven of these 21 patients showed signs of he- patotoxicity within 1 week postoperatively. This he- patotoxicity was normalized after weeks (Median (range)). 4) Eleven of these 21 patients showed signs of he- patotoxicity in 2 to 8 weeks postoperatively. This he-patotoxicity was normalized after 7(1-40) weeks (Median (range)). 5) Three of these 21 patients showed signs of he- patotoxicity over 8 weeks potoperatively. This he- patotoxicity was normalized after 12(5-13) weeks (Median
