Abstract
Hyperlipidemia ia a common feature of mini- mal change disease(MCD). It does not always persist in MCD. It is tra@nsient and may be cor- related with disease activity. But, recently there has been a interest in the possibility that lipid abnormality may be important in the pathogene- sis of glomerulosclerosis and hyperlipidemia may affect the prognosis of MCD. So we investigated the change of serum lipids and the relationships between the levels of serum lipids and prognosis of disease. Serum levels of total cholesterol, high -density lipoprotein(HDL), triglyceride(TG), and low-density lipoprotein(LDL) were measured in 37 patients with MCD. The serum levels of total cholesterol was 475.9± 136.4 mg/dl, TG 279.1± 140.8 mg/dl, HDL 71.3 ±5 28.1 mg/dl, and LDL 351.1 ±5 137.8 mg/dl at onset or relapsed phase. Serum level of total cholesterol correlated with LDL, and indirectly with level of serum albumin, but not with TG and HDL. TG corrleated with 24hr urinary protein excretion. LDL corrleated indirectly with the level of serum al- bumin. Each lipoprotein was not corrleated with the duration of induction.
