Abstract
Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory disorder of unknown cause which primarily affects the axial skeleton. IgA nephropathy was first described by Berger and Hinglais in 1968 and is characterized by recurrent gross or microscopic hematuria. After the first report of ankylosing spondylitis associated with IgA nephropathy by Sisson et al, several cases have been reported including 3 cases in Korea. Ankylosing spondylitis and IgA nephropathy can be associated by chance alone, but there are some evidences sug- gesting common pathogenesis. We report a case of ankylosing spondylitis associated with IgA nephropa- thy in a 43 year old male patient with a review of the literature.
