Abstract |
Endogenous creatinine clearance, serum creatin- ine and urinary creatinine excretion have been determined in 74 patients hospitalized with various medical disease. The patients were divided into 10-year age groups and the results were analysed for age and sex differences. ,In males, mean 24 hour urinary creatinine dec- reased from 24. 9 mg in the age group 11-20 to 11.2 mg in the age group 61-70 years. In females, mean 24 hour urinary creatinine dec- reased from 21. 1 mg in the age group 11-20 to 10. 1 mg in the age group 61-70 years. Formulas have bee developed to predict creat- inine clearance (Ccr) from age, body weight and serum creatinine in males and females; Male: Ccr(ml/min.) (29. 2- 0. 25 age) body weight *0.069 Scr(mg/dl) Female: Ccr(ml/min.) (23.5 - 0,19 age) body weight * 0.069 Scr(mg/dl) We also compare predicted creatinine clearance with mean measured creatinine clearance. In males, there was linear correlation between measured creatinine clearance and predicted crea- tinine clearance and regression line was expressed as Y=0.95 X+2.27 (where X was the measured and Y was the predicted creatinine clearance). Correlation coefficient in males was 0. 96. In emales, similar relationship was obtained and regression line was expressed as Y=O G4x+ l. 04. Correlation coefficient in females was 0.95. |
