| Abstract |
|
The development of several types of glomerular injury in patients with cancer has been recognized and is considered as one of the paraneoplastic syndromes. Most prominent were the occurrence of membranous glomerulonephritis in patients with car- cinoma, and the association between minimal change glomerulopathy and Hodgkin s disease. The most common carcinomas associated with membranous glomerulonephritis are those of the lung, gastro- intestinal and breast. Ovarian cancer-related neph- rotic syndrome was rarely reported, We report a case of ovarian carcinoma presenting as nephrotic syndrome due to membranous glo- merulonephritis. A total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy done, but the degree of proteinuria and the level of CA-125 did not diminished. Although uncommon, ovarian carcinoma must be considered in the differential diagnosis of cancer-related membranous glomerulonephritis. |
